Jameis Winston will have plenty of company at the Heisman Trophy ceremony — though he's not expected to have much competition.
The Florida State quarterback was among a record-tying six Heisman finalists revealed Monday, along with Northern Illinois' Jordan Lynch, Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel, Alabama's AJ McCarron, Auburn's Tre Mason and Boston College's Andre Williams.
The six finalists invited to New York for the presentation are the most since 1994. The winner will be announced Saturday night.
Winston is the overwhelming favorite to win the award now that a sexual assault complaint against him in Tallahassee, Fla., has been closed without charges being filed.
He could also become the second freshman to win the award. Manziel was the first just last year.
Manziel will try to join another exclusive Heisman club by becoming the second player to win the award twice. Ohio State's Archie Griffin won the award in 1974 and `75.
Wake Forest has hired Dave Clawson from Bowling Green as its next football coach, a person familiar with the situation said.
The person said a news conference to introduce Clawson was expected Tuesday in Winston-Salem, N.C. The person spoke to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity Monday night because the move had not been announced by either school.
It comes three days after Clawson led Bowling Green (10-3) to an upset of then-No. 16 Northern Illinois in the Mid-American Conference championship game.
Troopers say South Carolina star defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was ticketed for driving 110 mph in a 70-mph zone on a South Carolina interstate.
Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. David Jones said Clowney was pulled over in a Chrysler 300 about 7:30 p.m. Saturday northbound on Interstate 77 in Fairfield County, about 25 miles north of Columbia.

Odom pleads no contest
Former NBA player Lamar Odom pleaded no contest to a drunk-driving charge and accepted a sentence of three years' probation and three months of alcohol abuse treatment.
Los Angeles city attorney's spokesman Frank Mateljan said Odom entered the plea Monday to one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence. In a deal with prosecutors, he was also ordered to pay $1,814 in fines and penalties. The status of his suspended driver's license will be determined at a separate hearing.
Odom was arrested Aug. 30 after his Mercedes-Benz sport-utility vehicle was spotted weaving on a freeway.
He is currently out of the NBA, going unsigned as a free agent after averaging a career-low 4 points and 5.9 rebounds last season with the Clippers.

Boo Weekley has withdrawn from the Franklin Templeton Shootout at Naples, Fla., because of two family deaths.
Tournament organizers said Weekley's grandfather and uncle died in the last 10 days.
He was replaced in the field by Freddie Jacobson, who will team with two-time U.S. Open champion Retief Goosen.
The tournament starts Friday.

Shane Del Rosario, an Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight from Orange County, died Monday nearly two weeks after suffering a heart attack.
Del Rosario, 30, fell into a coma after the heart attack and failed to show significant responses afterward, with doctors at Hoag Memorial Presbyterian Hospital in Newport Beach telling family members the cardiac arrest was probably a result of a congenital heart disorder, according to the fighter's manager, Jason House.
The UFC said in a statement that it "mourns the tragic loss" of Del Rosario, a product of Dana Hills High who lived in Laguna Niguel. "The entire organization sends its deepest condolences to Shane's family and friends."
