KEY MOMENT: Hank Conger was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 11th to give the Angels the walk-off victory. That came after the Angels missed a couple of chances in the eighth and 10th innings, when Albert Pujols failed to deliver with runners in scoring position.

AT THE PLATE: Mike Trout hit his third home run in his 36th at-bat this season; he hit his third homer last season in his 111th at-bat. J.B. Shuck hit his first home run in his third at-bat this season; he hit his first homer last season in his 242nd at-bat. Mets catcher Travis d'Arnaud, who lives in Long Beach and attended Lakewood High, hit his second major league home run. Angels catcher Chris Iannetta reached base three times, with two walks and a single. The hit snapped an 0-for-15 skid.

ON THE MOUND: Tyler Skaggs was the biggest question mark in the Angels' rotation coming into the season, but he became the only member of the rotation to complete seven innings in each of his first two starts.

ON THE MEND: Josh Hamilton had surgery Friday to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb, an injury he suffered while sliding head-first into first base. Hamilton is expected to sit out all of April and most if not all of May. The Angels are counting on David Freese and Raul Ibanez to pick up some slack behind Pujols, but Freese has a .231 slugging percentage and Ibanez has a .265 slugging percentage.

ON THE MOVE: The Angels activated right-handed reliever Dane De La Rosa and optioned left-handed reliever Nick Maronde to triple-A Salt Lake. The move left the Angels without a left-hander in their seven-man bullpen.

IN THE DUGOUT: Mets Manager Terry Collins was fired as Angels manager in 1999. Mike Scioscia replaced him and has managed the Angels since then, a 15-year tenure in which the Mets have had five managers: Bobby Valentine, Art Howe, Willie Randolph, Jerry Manuel and now Collins.

UP NEXT: The Angels' Jered Weaver (0-2, 6.00) faces the Mets' Jon Niese (0-1, 3.18) on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Angel Stadium. On the air: TV: FSW; Radio: 830, 1330.
